About STREAM~N Team
- Youth ages 15–19 help our community and environment.
- Science, Technology, Research, Engineering, Arts, Math and Nature provide ideas and inspiration.
Where and When Does the Team Meet?
- The first program began last summer in Oregon City, and we have also begun offering programs in Portland and Salem. We hope to support other Teams in the years ahead.
- We meet at times that are most convenient for the group, with an average of 5-10 hours per week over the summer. Activities are also held on weekends and breaks during the school year, an average of 3-5 hours per week, and we offer after school and class programs by request.
- Team members are encouraged to take public transit or provide their own transportation. We can often provide transportation, if necessary.
Compensation + Credit
- Even better than free fun! Stipends of $310-$400 ($15.50-$20/hour) are earned for every 20 hours of service work and other activities, with bonuses for completing tough challenges.
- High school credit and/or volunteer service hours can be earned by students attending partner schools.
Learning + Growing Together
- Visit employers such as TimberLab, which made the spectacular new ceiling at Portland International Airport.
- Learn with experts from Oregon State University Extension, Hopkins Demonstration Forest, Clackamas Community College, Parrott Creek Cultural Ecology Project and other partner organizations.
- The program is led by Rick Reynolds, M.S.Ed., Founder of Engaging Every Student and his wife/collaborator Krista Reynolds, M.Ed., MLIS. The author or co-author of over 20 books and curriculum guides, Rick has 30+ years’ experience creating impactful education programs and resources to support all learners. Krista has 30+ years’ experience in biology, research, library science and education. Rick and Krista both enjoy exploring the outdoors, community service and life-long learning. Other advisors include Derek Grant, M.Ed., Kate Stinson, JD, Noah Brockman, MBA, and Joel Salter, MPP, a retired scientist from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with a passion for building.
