Our next scheduled events are below.

All experiences qualify for stipends, so please keep track of your time and send us an invoice each time you reach 20 hours! We can provide you with a template, and more events will be scheduled soon.

• Ongoing, each day Monday-Thursday through the summer: Volunteer with the great team at the John Inskeep Environmental Learning Center (ELC) at CCC. Choose from fun projects such as Nature Spy Discovery Days support and stewardship activities/trail work. Register here or you can email Tila McCutcheon <tila.mccutcheon@clackamas.edu> if the slots are full. Please take photos and send them to Rick so we can share news about everything you accomplished!
• Wed. Aug. 5 – end of summer: Independent or small group community service projects in Oregon City and/or Portland, such as picking up trash or removing ecologically disruptive plants, such as English ivy, or working with the team at the ELC (see above). Contact Rick for more details.
• Thurs., August 27: Star party at the ELC from 9:00 pm –
• August (date to be chosen with Team): Service-learning at beautiful Hopkins Demonstration Forest (16750 S Brockway Rd, Oregon City, OR 97045) from 10 am – 1 pm. May include fuels reduction, pesky plant removal, and/or research projects. Let us know if you would like a lift from the ELC at 9:30.
  What to Bring: 
  • Please wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes that can’t slip off your feet, weather-appropriate clothing, and bring a backpack for hands-free convenience.
  • Long sleeves and durable pants.
  • Feel free to bring your own work gloves, if available, and a reusable water bottle to support our sustainability efforts.
  • We also suggest you bring a bag lunch that we can enjoy together in the forest.

• Sat., Sept. 19: Weekend Work Party at NE 82nd Avenue Sanctuary with Bird Alliance of Oregon from 9:00-noon. Help build their newest wildlife sanctuary! “During these work parties, volunteers will tackle a wide variety of tasks around the Sanctuary including non-native species removal, restoration planting, debris clean up, and other tasks related to habitat restoration and improving wildlife habitat. This sanctuary will be the home for the new Wildlife Care Center, a nature park, an outdoor classroom, and native habitat for wildlife. The habitat restoration work is funded by grants from the Portland Clean Energy Fund (PCEF) and Department of Land Conservation and Development (DLCD).”
